Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expects Merkel to influence Putin’s decisions on Donbas issues
“We believe that the Chancellor’s visit to Moscow will be important in the context of encouraging Russia to fulfill its obligations under the agreements reached in Paris,” Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Ekateryna Zelenko said.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel will pay a working visit to the Russian Federation on January 11 at the invitation of President Putin. The agenda of the meeting on the Kremlin website includes consideration of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict in the context of the implementation of the Minsk “Package of measures” from 2015 and the agreements reached at the summit in the “Norman format” on December 9, 2019 in Paris.
