Official position\/function regarding the conflict<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

The Russian news agency \u201cFederal News Agency\u201d (FAN) is the main project of the \u201cmedia factory,\u201d which, along with the \u201ctroll factory\u201d (also known as \u201cPrigozhin trolls\u201d), constitutes the unofficial \u201cmedia holding\u201d of Yevgeny Prigozhin (see the section <\/span>Propagandists<\/span><\/i> for more information about Prigozhin). In total, together with FAN, 15\u00a0more \u201cinformation and scandalous\u201d websites belong to the \u201cmedia factory\u201d<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It takes an aggressive anti-Ukrainian position, publishes negative information and misinformation about the leaders of the Russian opposition, organizes campaigns of harassment against opposition and independent investigative journalists, as in the case of the discovery and the first detailed description of PMC Wagner<\/a>.<\/span> FAN works in close cooperation with the \u201ctroll factory,\u201d together they create and distribute fakes. FAN accounts have been banned from Wikipedia, YouTube, Facebook, and Google News<\/a>.<\/span> The agency was accused of interfering with the US elections<\/a>,<\/span> for which in December 2018 the US Treasury added FAN to the Specially Designated Nationals List<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

With regard to the conflict in Donbas, the FAN is actively promoting the main Kremlin narrative for the propagandist media \u2013 the narrative of \u201cgenocide against the Russian-speakers, which is organized by the fascists who seized power in Ukraine.\u201d FAN constantly publishes fakes and negative information regarding Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Interests\/goals in the conflict region<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

FAN is actively working to discredit the Ukrainian authorities and stir up the conflict. The agency has no interests in the conflict region.<\/span><\/p>\n

Actions regarding the conflict<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

FAN is an active participant in the actions of Russian propaganda against Ukraine. Its work, like the activities of other pro-Kremlin media, is aimed at justifying Russia\u2019s aggression in Donbas, providing favorable coverage of the separatists\u2019 actions, fakes regarding MH17, and persecuting the democratic opposition and its leaders who supported Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
