Gabriele Freitag is a historian specializing in Eastern Europe, managing director of the German Association for East European Studies (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Osteuropakunde e.V. / DGO) in Berlin. Previously, she was a Research Associate at the Research Center for East European Studies at the University of Bremen and Managing Director of the Berlin Graduate School for Muslim Cultures and Societies at the Free University of Berlin.
