Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union (UHHRU)

The largest association of human rights organisations in Ukraine. The union brings together 27 non-governmental human rights organisations. The aim of UHHRU’s activity is human rights protection. UHHRU considers itself a part of the Helsinki movement and as continuing the traditions and activities of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group to promote the Helsinki Accords.
The Ukrainian Helsinki Union promotes the development of a humane society, based on respect towards human life, dignity and harmonious relations between humans, the state and nature through creating platforms for collaboration between members of the Union and other participants in the human rights movement. The Union directly provides free legal assistance to citizens in the courts of Ukraine, the European Court of Human Rights and in other international jurisdictions with the aim of providing qualified legal help to victims of human rights violations in cases that have strategic significance, monitoring the observance of human rights and advocating for better practices in protecting human rights etc.
