Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group

One of the oldest Ukrainian human rights organisations., KhPG has been registered as an individual legal entity since November 1992, but has been known as the human rights group Kharkiv “Memorial” since 1988, and individual members of KhPG took part in the human rights movement of the 1960s and 1980s.

KhPG works with such international and foreign organisations such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the Association for the Prevention of Torture, the UN Committee Against Torture, the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, the Moscow Helsinki Group, the International “Memorial” Society and the Russian Institute for Human Rights.
The organisation is aimed at helping individuals whose rights have been violated; the public investigation of evidence of human rights violations; legal education; promoting human rights concepts through public events and publishing; analysing the human rights situation in Ukraine (especially civil rights and liberties).
