Razumkov Center: Most Ukrainians are against the “special status” of Donbas
56% of Ukrainians support the return of the occupied territories to the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the same pre-conflict conditions. This is the conclusion reached by Razumkov Center researchers, who analyzed the answers of 2015 respondents from all regions of Ukraine, except for the occupied territories of Donbas and Crimea.
Speaking about the political future of the DPR and LPR territories, the majority of Ukrainian citizens (56%) would like these territories to return to Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts of Ukraine under the same conditions as before, 13.5% would like these territories to return to Ukrainian control but gain more independence from Kyiv, 10% would like these territories to form an autonomy within Ukraine, 3% would like these territories to separate from Ukraine and become independent states, and 3% would like these territories to be separated from Ukraine and become part of the Russian Federation.
Speaking of steps to resolve the conflict, 73% of respondents against the secession of “DPR” and “LPR” territories from Ukraine, and 41% of all respondents are ready to support the official negotiations of the Ukrainian authorities with the current “government” of “DPR” and “LPR”.
